Adding a condition to a survey question

You can apply conditions to the questions to display them to your participants. Conditional questions must be on separate pages, rather than on the same page as other survey questions.

Access PathSurvey > Surveys > select a survey >  Edit button > Questions

How to

Add a condition

  1. On the questions page, to the right of the question to which you want to add a display condition, click on the icon.
    * You must have placed this question on a separate page. For example, you might want to send a survey like this one:
    • Page 1: What age range are you?
      Possible answers: 18-25, 26-35, 36-45
    • Page 2: Are you planning to buy this type of product? (This question can only be displayed if the participant choose the age range 18-25)
Any other questions you may wish to add on page 2 must have the same condition (has selected option 18-25).
  2. In the window that opens, scroll down to the Condition section and click on the icon to the right of the Statement box.
  3. In the expression statements editor, specify how to display your question.
    Several options are available:
    • When - Allows you to choose the previous page or question that triggers the condition.
    • Operator- Defines the operation that you want to apply to the page or condition that you choose.
      • is completed - The page is completed.
      • is not completed - The page is not completed.
      • is answered - The participant has answered the question.
      • is not answered - The participant has not answered the question.
      • is equal to - The answer is equal to a specific value.
      • is not equal to - The answer is not equal to a specific value.
      • has selected - The participant has selected a specific value.
To select multiple values, hold down the CTRL key.
      • has not selected - The participant has not selected a specific value.
  4. When you are finished, click Apply, then Save.
  5. If you want to change your condition or add new ones, go back to the expression statements editor and select one of the following options:
    • Remplace - Allows you to change the current condition.
    • Restrict the current expression (And) - Allows you to add a new condition.
    • Extend the current expression (Or) - Allows you to add an option.
    * Before applying and saving, do not forget to replace the values in the When and Operator fields with your new values.
  6. Back in the questions page, to the right of your question, you should see the following yellow icon:

When you tap on this icon, the condition is displayed as follows:
    Conditional: your_condition
