The lifecycle feature segments your audience according to the corresponding phase of the customer life for your prospects/clients (from the first interaction with the brand to the conversion). The segmentation uses targeting criteria based on the customer's interactions and experiences with the enterprise at different moments to determine in which phase the client is in. The segmentation is already configured. All you have left is to target contacts with a group that uses a phase as a targeting criterion.
Segmentation by Phase
The Lifecycle feature is activated by default. You have nothing to configure. A default template is provided. This template already includes phases that target contacts in your project according to predefined criteria. The template will be different depending if your project contains an E-commerce structure or not.
Template for projects without an E-commerce structureThis template is based on opt-ins and engagement with emails (clicks, views).
Template for projects with an E-commerce structureThis template uses data from E-commerce tables such as transactions.
Template and language change
If you add an e-commerce structure after the lifecycle activation, you can deactivate the template, restore the template and reactivate it to have the template for E-commerce:To change language, it is the same, but you have to switch the language before resetting the template.
Data calculation
The life cycle calculation (the number of contacts in each phase) is done daily. It is also done at the activation if the project has less than 100,000 contacts.
It is strongly recommended to use the template in its current form. However, if you have specific needs, you could make changes to the template if you master the targeting and personalization tools from Dialog Insight. |
To edit the default template, you must first deactivate it.
Phase adding
To add a phase, use the button between two phases (you won't be able to change its position after the creation):
Conditions
As mentioned before, it is not recommended to modify the template and phase conditions. However, it can be interesting to see how the targeting conditions work in each phase of the template.
To make changes to a phase, click the edit button:You could choose a condition to add in the dropdown menu:If a condition has a lock icon, it means the feature associated with the condition is not activated or not included in your plan.
To edit or delete an existing condition, use the following buttons next to the condition:
If you regret changes made to the template, you can reset it to its initial state:
Targeting with Phases
To include contacts in a phase, you must create a group with a Customer life cycle criterion:When the group is functional, the calculation of the number of contacts will compile in the phase.
Results
The dispatching of contacts to a life cycle phase is based on the last activated. Thus, when you deactivate the cycle, during a few days, to edit it the calculation continues to use the previous cycle until you reactivate a new one. This includes data in the contact's profile and groups. The calculation is done daily or at activation.
Phase results
A contact can go back to a previous phase or be removed from the cycle. Example: For a phase with a condition that targets contacts who made a purchase in the last 12 months, if the contact doesn't make a new purchase within the following 12 months, the contact will be removed from the phase. The segmentation for the phases is dynamic.
Out of cycle contacts
Contacts who are not included in any phase will be compiled in the orange box at the right end of the page:
Contact's profile results
In the contact's profile, you can see if the contact is included in one of the life cycle phases:
