Creating Predefined Contents (Assets) for Emails

The Predefined Contents module allows you to create reusable content that you can embed in your emails. You can drag-and-drop an asset directly into the body of the email in the editor. Each asset provides you with performance results (see the Results section at the end of this article). When an asset is modified, it changes everywhere it is embedded. This means you don't have to edit the content in every message. To go further with Predefined Contents, you could combine them with DImension by creating asset matrices.

Access path: Libraries → Predefined Contents → Assets

Limitations

  • You must use an email created with a DI template with a recent version (minimum 4.1.0) to integrate the Content block (see Step 4).
  • A predefined content has only one column. If you want to create a header and a footer that have more than one column, create an email template instead.

Step 1: Create the Content

Go to Libraries → Predefined Contents → Assets and click Create an asset in the upper right (or select an existing content as a starting point).

Give it a name (Label) to identify it and indicate the Type.

Depending on which type you select, add different content elements (title, image, link). Add the content for the French if you have multilingual emails. By default, assets are bilingual. You could delete a language if you don't use it. Fields that are different from one language to another are identified by this icon: .

When you are done, click Create.

Step 2: Edit the Content

In the Content tab, add the texts and layout (alignment, font, size).

You can add personalization in your texts:

If you have a French version, don't forget to fill it. If you don't use it, delete it by clicking the X:

In the Styles tab, indicate the content colors (background, buttons).

Step 3: Configure the Content

  • Identification: To add a code of your choice to identify the asset during a data export.
  • Diffusion: To set a start and end date for the diffusion of your asset. An asset that has expired will no longer show up in related messages.

When you are done, click Publish in the upper right.

Step 4: Integrate the Content into Emails

An asset must be published to be used in an email.

Drag and drop an Asset block or simply use one from the list under MyAssets:

Select the Asset to use and choose the width:

Make sure the column width of the structure block is wide enough for the asset.

Note that the block can only be added to 1 or 2-column structure blocks.

Step 5: Preview and Test

To preview the content, use the Test mode in emails.
