Creating Segmentation for DImension

The segments created in the DImension module allow you to define campaign targeting criteria and eventually personalize contents and offers according to the specific characteristics of each segment. The groups may then be segmented with criteria such as buying behaviour, demographics, email interactions or browsing data on your website. For example, you could use age, gender or region as segmentation criteria. Segmentation is required to activate a DImension.

Create a Segment

  1. Start by adding one or several segments to your DImension:

  2.  The menu gives you two options:

If you want to group segments into blocks, you must first create blocks and then create segments inside these blocks. When you configure blocks, click on Create only when you are done adding blocks because you cannot add blocks later. Next, add segments (inside the blocks or not).

  3. Choose the segment type you want to create:

  4. Depending on the segment type chosen in Step 3, refer to the corresponding instructions:
    Profile

To use a clause based on the contact's profile information, start by clicking on Add

Then add a label and click on +:

Define the contact's profile information that will be used for the segment.

For more information, see the documentation on the clause editor.

    Groups

This segment type requires that you have already created groups (with the Group module).

Be careful! With this type, you cannot create an Asset matrix.

    Start by clicking on Add:

Then choose a group in the list. Check the group to add as a condition and click on the right arrow to send it to the board on the right:

    A/X split
You must have created A/X split as a prerequisite to use this type of segmentation.

    Start by clicking on Add:

Then choose the random distribution in percents:

    Persona
You need to have personas created for this type of segmentation.

    Start by clicking on Add:

Then choose which personas you want to use:

    Field
Start by choosing a field, then click on Select segments The window that shows up offers a selection of available fields in your project. If you are unfamiliar with fields, you may read the article about it.
    Template
This type allows you to choose segments among those predefined in your project:
  5. Check the options you want to apply to your segmentation: The options displayed vary according to your choice in step 3. The first option generates a segment Others, that will group all contacts not corresponding to the criteria of the segments created. The second option will create a group for all contacts.

  6. Add sub-segments (optional)

After adding segments, it is possible to separate them into sub-segments. All you have to do is to repeat the same steps you did for segments. It is possible that a contact enters into more than a segment or does correspond to any (depending on the options checked in step 5).
